Friday night. Kaprun. Just before 9:30 PM.
Headlamps are ready. The glaciers of the Kitzsteinhorn shimmer in the last light of the day. Ahead of you: 110 kilometres and 6,500 metres of elevation gain around Austria’s highest mountain.
The race starts. From now on, it’s all about the trail.
The THE NORTH FACE GROSSGLOCKNER ULTRA-TRAIL follows the legendary Glocknerrunde through the heart of Hohe Tauern National Park. Technical singletrack, long climbs, fast descents, high-alpine passes and countless kilometres through a landscape that keeps reminding you just how small you are up here.
Cross the main Alpine ridge twice. Run through three Austrian states and seven valleys. Pass 14 glaciers, surrounded by more than 300 peaks above 3,000 metres.
RUN. CLIMB. DESCEND. REPEAT.
This is about more than kilometres and elevation gain. It’s about that one moment at first light. The next pass. The next descent. The next aid station. Tired legs, complete focus and the Grossglockner always somewhere on the horizon.
And that feeling when, after all those kilometres, the finish line finally becomes your finish.

You don’t have to run the entire Glocknerrunde to be part of GGUT.
From the Grossglockner Ultra-Trail (GGUT) to the Osttirol Trail (OTT), Grossglockner Trail (GGT), Weißsee Gletscherwelt Trail (GWT) and Kaprun Scenic Trail (KST): different distances, different challenges – but always true alpine trails.
And with the Mini GGUT and Kids Trail Kaprun, the trails belong to the next generation too.
